Jon Batiste Inspo and Fall Somatic Immersion

Welcome to fall! You've made it through the busy and often unpredictable summer season and now it's time to lean into a routine that grounds and nourishes you. And as always, I'm got some ideas :-)

Here's where we're going today - feel free to scroll down accordingly:

1. Jon Batiste inspo on freeeeeedom
2. Somatic Immersion: A Yoga Therapy Journey
3. A new podcast episode

#1 When I move my body just like this, I don't know why but I feel like freedom!

~Jon Batiste

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Jon Batiste perform in Salt Lake City at Red Butte Gardens. Every single moment was inspiring, beautiful, joyful and freeing. But my favorite part of the show was seeing him perform Freedom which is currently my favorite song ever (although to be fair, it's well known that I am prone to exaggeration and have uttered those words a zillion times before).

When I watch the video, when I dance to it in my kitchen, when I sing the lyrics, I really do feel a renewed sense of freedom.

There are so many places in the world where it feels like freedoms are being taken from us. But when I move my body just like this... it still feels like freedom. Our ability to move and feel is something we own and we can move in ways that serve us, that feel good, and that increase our freedom. And no one can take that from us.

So let's do it! Move with me, or move in your living room, or on a dance floor or a yoga mat or a hiking trail or even in your chair. Just move and feel like freedom!

Just try listening to this without moving - I dare you!

#2 Somatic Immersion: A Yoga Therapy Journey

I'm cooking up a new 6-week series beginning in October.

This course is a somatic immersion, offering a deep dive into the mind/body/brain connection. I'll highlight a number of the concepts I use when I work with individual yoga therapy clients, including nervous system navigation, cultivating a sense of safety and trust in your body, and somatic conversations as a window into the pysche.

Each week, we'll use a concept as a framework for your own inner work as we move through yoga asanas, deep imagery and pranayama.

Think, yoga with more personal inquiry, tools, and resources!

I'm taking requests for class times both on zoom and in-person so if you have preferences, please reply to this email!

If you'd like to join me in person in Salt Lake, let me know if Tuesdays at noon, Thursdays at 6:15 pm or Fridays at 10am work for you.

And if you'd prefer zoom, let me know if you prefer evenings or day times. I'll send another email next week with final times.

I hope you can join me!!!
