Depower Pain Starts Wednesday - Live in SLC!
We are in-person in SLC this Wednesday!!!
In case you've missed my January 4-part email series, I am co-teaching an in-person 4-week course in February. We'll meet Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11am, beginning Feb 5.
If you struggle with chronic pain, I hope you'll join us. And if you know someone else in the Salt Lake area who might benefit, please pass on the info.
And if you are interested in learning more about using mindfulness as a tool in your chronic pain journey, check out my most recent blogs or reply to this email. I'd love to chat with you about it.
This course is for you if:
You want to change your experience of pain
You have experienced prolonged pain
Your pain affects your mood, behaviors, attention and/or quality of life
You're curious to learn how to disempower your pain
You're interested in exploring pain through the lens of mindfulness, yoga, and physical therapy
You're interested in the neuroscience, anatomy/physiology, and psychology of pain and pain management practices
What We Know About Chronic Pain:
It can cause significant suffering
It increases and decreases based on our relationship with it
It affects our mood, activity and coping skills
It can put us into fight/flight or freeze states, dysregulating our nervous system
Self-judgement and fixed mindsets increase chronic pain whereas, compassion and curiosity disrupt it
There are tools to decrease the suffering caused by chronic pain and we'll explore these tools together
How the class will work:
At its core this course explores how to decrease the suffering caused by chronic pain through the lens of mindfulness, physical therapy, and yoga.
In each of the four, 90 minute classes, we'll explore these concepts through lecture, movement practices, guided meditations, and discussion.
This will be an experiential course; the purpose is to apply knowledge and concepts to functional movement.
We'll have space for reflection, questions, and discussion.
The classes will be supported by four online modules that catalogue lab activities from the course, so you can keep practicing concepts independently, and use them for future reference.
