Individual Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy sessions, combine classical yoga postures and breathing techniques with elements of contemporary psychology in order to foster a deeper understanding of what is happening beneath the surface. In our culture, we pay a lot of attention to the stimulus around us and the thoughts in our head. Even in traditional meditation we are often directed to let go of all thoughts and emotions and instead focus primarily on one particular object. In the embodied meditations we do together, I will suggest you pay attention to the sensations, images, and emotions that arise within you so that you have a fuller picture of what is present in the moment. By dropping deeply into your inner experience, the body becomes a source of information.
My intention is to help you work with that information: to see where you are and what you want to shift and grow. Through awareness practices, breathwork, deep imagery, yoga asanas, and dialogue you will learn to listen with compassion to the wisdom of the body. It is through this deep listening that you will understand how to turn awareness into action.

Anyone can benefit from yoga therapy. I work with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic fatigue as well as self-empowerment, personal growth and more.

WHAT TO EXPECT
I will guide you through awareness exercises that will help you notice what is happening in your body and mind, moment to moment. All sessions are client-directed which means that sometimes there is a lot of talking and movement and sometimes very little. Sessions are about 90 minutes. You don’t need to bring anything with you, just wear comfortable clothing.
